Grace

Grace is God’s undeserved kindness to the undeserving—most clearly shown in Christ, who saves us and keeps shaping us.

Browse: Gospel Foundations · Spiritual Growth

What is grace? Grace is God’s free favor toward those who deserve judgment—love and help that cannot be earned, only received.

Why is grace undeserved? Because sin has left us without claim on God; anything good we receive from him in salvation is owing to his mercy, not our performance. How does grace shape salvation? We are saved by grace through faith; even the faith to believe is God’s gift. Grace also continues: teaching, strengthening, and humbling us so we walk in truth.

If you feel undeserving

Grace means you do not come to God on the strength of your record—you come on the strength of his mercy in Christ.

That is not permission to love sin; it is freedom to stop hiding and to receive what you could never earn.
